never forget you
Posting this in hopes that this woman will be my best friend or at least teach me how to dance one day.

We spent an close to perfect summer evening last night listening to my morning jacket at a outdoor venue just east of Portland. Outdoors. Surrounded by hills. Blue sky. PBR. Blankets. Perfect temperature.
Summer. FINALLY!
Summer. FINALLY!

beauty
Clare saw Jonsi perform in NYC last night. Jonsi is a side project of one of the members of Sigur Ros... His songs are so beautiful they bring tears to my eyes!
For your Thursday listening pleasure.

Glory of Music
Just to ground myself, I must share with you the concert tickets that are currently in my pocket:
Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes
Scissor Sisters
Rufus Wainwright, with the Portland Symphony
Local Natives (maaaybe)
Black Keys
Dirty Projectors
Arcade Fire
All in the next two months! Potential to explode, for sure.
I leave you with a new tune from the band, Drummer, started by the drummer of the Black Keys and comprised of drummers from assorted bands, all picking up new instruments this time around.

one more track for monday
Heard this song in Hannah's car this morning. Shout out to Big Knuck, Hannah's pop.
summer weekends
BBQ's, farmers market, visitors, getting lost on bikes, new friends, river tubing, sleeping in (finally!), beers by the river, taco nights, music on the streets, and messy bedrooms.

Jack Penate
Something about this music makes it feel like it hasn't been raining outside for a month, and reminds me that the summer's momentum is already under my skin.
It's no surprise that he's British and that I was in love at first listen.

Broken Social Scene
How I love you. New album is out: Forgiveness Rock Record.
I've also been listening to a lot of their earlier stuff recently. Even found a concert poster from their February 2009 show that, when I met Wade, he had an extra ticket to. He also happened to have a crush on me at the time, score! Either way, find out more about Mike King Crash, a local Portland artist who does a lot of concert poster design. Sophie bought us a fabulous Yeah Yeah Yeahs poster of his for Christmas.

For your listening pleasure: Looks just like the Sun.

lazy Sunday tune
Buddy Holly classic
I only rediscovered this song after hearing an Indie cover of it done by Rogue Wave. After searching all versions on youtube, wade and i decided this one is closest to what it sounded like at the age of 8.
